Google Certification

I’ve been working an awful lot lately on the educational technology front. In particular I’ve been working within my institution to manage some of our transition to the use of Google Apps for Education. I’m an enormous fan, advocate and enthusiast of these apps and have been working with them for the best part of a school year now so I was very pleased when I heard that Google were overhauling their entire Certified Educator system. The Certified Educator status is something that can be worked towards over a period of time and recognises proficiency and understanding of Google’s Apps for Education suite as well as formally certifying a high degree of skill in their usage.

The support materials for the certification are absolutely excellent and a real masterclass in first-rate, online pedagogy. They take users of almost any level through everything that they might need to know in a reflective, interactive and engaged manner and provide a really great basis from which to build knowledge and experience. Having looked through the materials myself I then put myself in for the examination – up to 3 hours in length and testing a whole host of skills and proficiencies. I’m pleased to say I’ve passed the Levels 1 and 2 certification and am now looking forward to putting together an application for Certified Trainer status.
